Previous phases


The Jamboree is a face-to-face meeting of participants that took place after all submissions were made to the website and the sbv IMPROVER Network Verification Challenge 2 (NVC2) is closed.

The 2015 Jamboree was held 15th-18th June 2015 in Barcelona, Spain.

On Wednesday 17th June 2015, the conference was open to the scientific community.

The meeting had two main objectives:

  • Review and agree on the existence of a selection of edges and evidences that were disputed by challenge participants during the online verification process.
  • Gather lessons learned from the Network Verification Challenge.

The Jamboree brought together:

  • The “best performing” participants in the Network Verification Challenge, as determined by reputation points;
  • Subject matter experts;
  • The team of scientists who generated the initial networks models.

Beyond the Jamboree

The challenge organizers hope that the platform designed for the NVC will have ongoing impact after the Jamboree. To this end, the following activities are planned:

  • The outcomes of the NVC and Jamboree will be reflected in the network models to summarize and encapsulate the most relevant knowledge on human lung biology;
  • The updated network models will be made available to the entire scientific community through the NVC website;
  • The online verification process on the NVC website will be reopened to enable the continued development and verification of these networks as well as other network models.

We would like to thank all participants that took part in the Network Verification Challenge.

The best performers were announced at the sbv IMPROVER Jamboree 2015 in Barcelona, Spain and the identity of the Best Performers was published in Nature (Volume 523 Number 7562, 30 July 2015, page 495).
